Frequently Asked Questions
How is SGPA calculated in IPU (GGSIPU)?
SGPA = Σ(course credit × grade point) ÷ Σ(course credits) for all subjects in that semester. GGSIPU uses the UGC 10-point scale: O = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C = 5, P = 4, F = 0.
How do I convert IPU CGPA to percentage?
It depends on your admission year. Students admitted before 2024 use CGPA × 10 (Ordinance 11). Students admitted in 2024 or later use (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 as per GGSIPU notification dated 15.01.2024. Example: CGPA 8.2 = 82% (old formula) or 74.5% (new formula).
What is the minimum passing grade in IPU?
Grade P (4 grade points, typically 40-44 marks) is the minimum passing grade. Below 40 marks is grade F (0 points) and the paper must be cleared in a subsequent attempt.
What CGPA is first division in GGSIPU?
A CGPA of 6.50 or above places you in First Division at IP University. CGPA between 5.00 and 6.49 is Second Division.
Is SGPA and CGPA the same thing?
No. SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) covers one semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average across all semesters completed so far.
